Winter Collection Schedule for Yard Waste and Food Scraps to Begin

0Comments

The City of Dubuque will begin its winter collection schedule of yard waste and food scraps starting Monday, Nov. 28.

Residents who would like to have a collection made during the winter months must schedule an appointment by either submitting a request through the City’s website at www.cityofdubuque.org/yardwaste, or calling the City of Dubuque Public Works Department at 563-589-4250.

Yard waste and food scrap appointments will be scheduled and collected on customers’ normal collection day with other curbside materials. Appointments must be scheduled no later than 3 p.m. on the previous business day.

Scheduled winter collections require an annual decal or single-use yellow sticker to be attached to the collection, both of which can be purchased at City Hall or other area retailers.

Those who subscribe to a City-issued food scrap cart will have collections made weekly on their normal collection day, no appointment needed. The City reminds subscribers to prevent food scraps from freezing to the cart, make sure to line the inside of the cart with newspaper or a paper bag.

Dubuque’s winter collection schedule of yard waste and food scraps runs through Friday, March 31, 2023.
