Nutrition Lessons Brought to Local Students

The Regional Medical Center (RMC) dietitians have teamed up with Delaware County Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and their “Read Across Iowa” program. With March being National Nutrition Month, the RMC dietitians will be teaching lessons to 4th grade classes in our communities. The theme for the “Read Across Iowa'' program this year is ‘Agriculture Connects Us’ and the theme for National Nutrition Month is ‘Fuel for the Future.’

“We were honored to be included in this partnership and education initiative. It’s been amazing to bring in locally grown produce and show the many ways to prepare the food to fuel our body,” shared Abbie Carper, RMC Dietitian. “Students were even given the opportunity to try various ways to eat Kale.”

The food we are putting into our body is very important. Eating with sustainability in mind is a tasty way to nourish ourselves during every phase of life and protect the environment. The RMC Nutrition Education & Counseling team challenges everyone to make National Nutrition Month a time for healthier food choices and developing better eating habits.
