Join Clarke University Theatre on a journey of self-discovery through PersonA, an original work by Professor of Drama, Joe Klinebriel. Performances will take place in Terence Donaghoe Hall March 31 and April 1 at 7 p.m., along with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on April 2. They are free and open to the public.

Developed as part of Klinebriel’s sabbatical research, PersonA is a study of how the journey of identity exists in such great theatrical works, such as Oedipus the King, Hamlet, and A Doll’s House, among others. Performances will feature Klinebriel as the central character. He will be joined onstage by an ensemble of Clarke students including Sara Theisen, Sophia Wilson, Axel Carlson, Madison Paxton, Maria Mustafa, and Haley Kline, as well as Clarke alumna Andrea Bednar ’74.

“What began as my desire to celebrate and showcase great works of theatre as a collective whole was also fueled by my own internal exploration during those isolated days during Covid, when everything was closed and so many people were suddenly reevaluating professions, identities and life priorities,” said Klinebriel. “I’m incredibly excited to have developed this project and now I’m thrilled to see it come to life as I direct and perform in it. With the great help of our participating students and alumni, Clarke Theatre will proudly get the chance to present this unique telling of a universal and timely theme: a search for one’s own identity.”
