It's Not Too Late for Your Flu Shot

Brought to you by Delaware County Public Health

Influenza or the ‘flu’ is present and increasing in the state and Delaware County. As we move into the holiday season, it’s a great reminder that it is not too late to get your annual flu shot. Everyone ages 6 months and older are recommended to get a flu vaccine every year.

Getting your flu shot helps prevent infection. It can also prevent serious outcomes (such as hospitalization or even death) for those who get vaccinated but still get sick with the flu.

The flu is a respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, sometimes even death. Symptoms typically come on quickly and suddenly. People may experience some or all of these symptoms:

  • fever or feeling feverish/chills
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • runny or stuffy nose
  • muscle or body aches
  • headaches
  • fatigue (tiredness)
  • some people may have vomiting and diarrhea (this is more common in children)
Learn more at cdc.gov/flu. To schedule your flu shot, contact your healthcare provider or Regional Family Health at 563-927-7777 or regmedctr.org/rfh.
