Temporary Water Shut Off - 1117 E Platt, 1200 E Platt, Faigrounds, Maquoketa MHP Trailer Park

NOTICE

PLEASE EXCUSE THIS INCONVENIENCE TEMPORARY WATER SHUT-OFF

The water main that serves your home must be shut off to allow for the tie-in of a new water main on Platt Street. Please draw enough water to supply your needs during this period. This shut down will start on MONDAY OCTOBER 10 t h from 7:30 am until 2:00 pm.

Announcements will be made on KMAQ Radio, Maquoketa’s Facebook page, and Website. Once the water is off work will continue until the installation is complete and then water will be restored. A boil advisory will be effective immediately once the water is restored on the 10th .The advisory will remain in place until 2 sets of bacteria samples have been completed confirming that the water meets all regulatory standards.

The boil advisory will ONLY affect the following areas: 1117 East Platt; the 1200 block of East Platt; the Fair Grounds; Maquoketa MHP Trailer Park.

Because of the potential for bacterial or other contamination, it is recommended by the IDNR that residents either boil water or use bottled water for drinking or cooking until further notice. Residents are advised to bring water to a boil for one minute and let it cool before using or use bottled water. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Tap water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes. Residents will be notified when the boil advisory is lifted on KMAQ radio and the City of Maquoketa Website / Facebook page.

It is anticipated the advisory will be lifted by WED, OCTOBER 12th 2022. Occasionally, some problems occur after the water supply is reinstated. If the water shows discoloration, run the water until it clears. If water is available from most faucets, but won’t flow from a particular one, remove the screen from that faucet and run water. Clean the faucet screen and reinstall it. If you have any concerns regarding the water service interruption, please contact Jeff Bodenhofer at 563-652-4881. Find more information at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Safe Drinking Water Hotline, 800-427-4791.
