Constitution Day 2022

The University of Dubuque will celebrate Constitution Day on Tuesday, September 17, 2021 - the 234th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution, one the most important documents in U.S. history. Often referred to as the cornerstone of American government, the U.S. Constitution was signed September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, and has been the basis of other democracies around the world.

The Constitution is known as a "living document" because it grows and changes as America and its people grow and change. While no document is perfect, only 27 amendments have been added since its writing over two centuries ago. Few documents have stood the test of time so well. At 4,400 words, the U.S. Constitution is the shortest written constitution of any major government in the world.
