Fourth all-time playoff meeting between Eastern Conference rival set to begin
DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Clark Cup Playoffs are officially about to begin for the Dubuque Fighting Saints. The Saints will take on the #3 seeded Muskegon Lumberjacks in the second round of the Clark Cup Playoffs. The Fighting Saints finished with the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference and earned a first-round bye. The series between Dubuque and Muskegon will start on Friday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
The following is the series schedule in this best-of-three series:
GAME 1: Friday, April 29 at Mercy Health Arena – 6:00 p.m. CDT
GAME 2: Sunday, May 1 at Mystique Community Ice Center – 7:05 p.m. CDT
GAME 3: Monday, May 2 at Mystique Community Ice Center – 7:05 p.m. CDT (if necessary)
This series is the fourth overall playoff meeting between the two teams since they both returned to the USHL in 2010. The Fighting Saints took the series in 2013 en route to a Clark Cup championship and 2017 to seal a berth in the Eastern Conference Final, and Muskegon won a five-game series in 2015 to get to the Clark Cup Final. Muskegon won four of the seven meetings between the two teams this season.
The Fighting Saints, under the direction of first-year head coach Greg Brown, won 40 games during the regular season. That mark is second-most in the Saints’ Tier I history behind the juggernaut 2012–13 team that won 45 games. Dubuque features one of the best offenses, defenses, goaltending duos, and sets of special teams in the USHL.
Individual playoff game tickets will go on sale at noon on Wednesday, April 27.
