University of Dubuque recently issued the following announcement.
University of Dubuque's Bisignano Art Gallery will host a free reception for its latest exhibit, "Vietnam: The Interviews," at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, near the art gallery, Heritage Center, 2255 Bennett St. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibit is a personal record of 11 military personnel over a 10-year period.
"This is a powerful and thought-provoking exhibit looking back at the drama of one of the more controversial and darker chapters of the American experience with a local focus," said Alan Garfield, director of the art gallery.
Current military-affiliated and ROTC students at the University of Dubuque conducted interviews with the service men and women under the direction of Rick Ernst (CSM, USA, Ret.), director of the Sergeant Jeffrey B. Dodge Veterans Center.
"Vietnam: The Interviews" is held in conjunction with the Dubuque Museum of Art's exhibition of photographs from Associated Press photographers during the Vietnam War.
The reception will take place in conjunction with The Play, a one-man show performed by four-time Super Bowl champion Rocky Bleier, at 7:30 p.m. in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center. For more information or to purchase tickets for the performance, please visit www.dbq.edu/HeritageCenter.
"Vietnam: The Interviews" is free and open to the public through Friday, January 28, 2022.
Gallery hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the academic year. The gallery is also open in conjunction with all major events in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center. You can visit the exhibit online at gallery.dbq.edu.
