With the same optimism, sense of humor, and steadfast determination that were his trademarks as a running back with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bleier will take audiences from his early years through his professional career and share lessons he learned along the way in The Play. He will recall how, despite his drive and ability to make the big play, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected him in the 16th round of the 1968 draft. Bleier will share how before the season ended that first year, he was drafted by the United States Army and sent to Vietnam where he was seriously wounded when his platoon ran into an ambush. Barely able to walk, he was expected to never play football again. However, with personal determination and the encouragement of Steelers owner Art Rooney, Bleier was back at training camp in 1970 where he became an indispensable part of the Steelers dynasty with Super Bowl victories in 1975, 1976, 1979, and 1980.

Audience members will journey through the decades of family anecdotes, tales of Steelers glory, and multimedia projections bringing Bleier's remarkable story to life. Premiering at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh in 2015, The Play is a heartfelt and inspiring memoir perfect for sports fans of all ages.
