Sports Shooting team wraps up fall season at home

Northeast

Northeast Iowa Community College recently issued the following announcement.

The Northeast Iowa Community College Sports Shooting team wrapped up its fall schedule with two meets at home last weekend, Oct. 15-16. The NICC team fell to its Saturday competitor, Hawkeye Red Tails Sports Shooting, 402-483. The following day NICC was defeated by the Southeastern Blackhawks Sports Shooting squad in a closer battle, 403-456.

NICC athletes participating on Oct. 15 included: Nathan Breska, Arcadia, Wis., 90; Wilson Ihm, Platteville, Wis., 83; Tracer Tollefsrud, Canton, 82; Drew King, Marshalltown, 81; Alex Digman, Earlville, 66; Zach Schroeder, Elgin, 63; and Alex Zweibohmer, Decorah, 58.

“It was great to have everyone together for one of our last meets. It was windy but everyone pulled through,” commented athlete Zack Schroeder.

Tracer Tollefsrud agreed on the weather conditions and pointed out the caliber of the Hawkeye Community College squad. “It was a little windy for one of our last meets, but everyone had a great time. It was great to have Hawkeye over for some amazing competition,” he said.

NICC vs. Southeastern Community College

NICC athletes regrouped the very next day to face Southeastern. Team members included: Tollefsrud, 88; Breska, 84; Ihm, 80; Schroeder, 76; and Zweibohmer, 75.

Anthony Sisneros, head coach, sees a promising team of NICC athletes despite challenging weather at the end of the season. “It was rough weather conditions two days in a row, but our student athletes did the best they could. Unfortunately, Southeastern outperformed us and took the win for our last competition this fall season. Now it’s time to get ready for the collegiate championships in the spring,” Sisneros said.

The NICC team's next meet will be on April 16, 2022, at the SCTP State Collegiate Championships in Ackley, Iowa.
