Rosenbum Sweeps Conference, National Runner of the Week Honors

Loras

Loras College issued the following announcement on October 19.

Loras College women’s cross country senior Kassie Rosembum (’22) was named the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Female Runner of the Week and United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Runner of the Week on Monday after another record-setting performance at the Lewis and Clark Invitational on Saturday. The top-runner for the No. 33-ranked Duhawks collected her second National Athlete honor and fourth A-R-C award this season.

Rosenbum ran the fastest time among Division III competitors over the weekend, winning the race at Milo McIver State Park in 20:10.9, a 16-second improvement on her 6,000-meter school record she set two weeks prior at Augustana College. In the past two races, she has lowered the previous record held by Audrey Miller ’20 by 21 seconds. The Guttenberg, Iowa native put a 17-second gap on the second-place finisher at the Lewis and Clark Invitational and beat the third-place finisher, Division I University of Oregon runner, by 39 seconds. She also defeated Clara Mayfield of Carleton College, a former National Athlete of the Week for the No. 21 Knights and Fiona Smith of St. Benedict College who has been a name to watch throughout the season. The Duhawks finished sixth in the team race, competing against Division I, II and III programs.

Rosenbum remains undefeated on the season heading into the A-R-C Championship on Saturday, Oct. 30 and enters the race as a three-time all-conference performer and two-time cross country all-american. The championship is set to begin at 11 a.m. in Decorah, Iowa on Luther College’s campus.
