Loras College recently issued the following announcement.

For the first time in program history, the Loras College women’s lacrosse team was named as an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) 2021 Academic Team in addition to Clare Brunn (’22), Kayla Tilkes (’21) and Katlynne Wolf (’21) earning Academic Honor Roll status. To earn team honors, programs must have a 3.2 team GPA or higher for the academic year and junior, senior or graduate student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher are eligible for individual honors.

Brunn, a native of Rochester, Minn., had a dominant 2021 campaign as a three-time Player of the Week and led the conference with 49 goals and a 54 percent shooting percentage. A psychology and Spanish double major, she ranks top-five in single game goals and points as well as top-five in single season goals and points. During her career, she is third all-time for points, goals and free position goals and eighth in assists and draw controls. 

Tilkes, an Evergreen Park, Ill. native, led the league with 42 caused turnovers and finished second in the conference in ground balls (62). She set the single-game record for caused turnovers (11), ranks third in single-game ground balls, sits third in career ground balls (158) and second in caused turnovers (118). A psychology and neuroscience major, she was a First Team All-Conference award winner and named the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Duhawk in program history to do so.

Wolf, an international studies and history double major from Park Ridge, Ill., set the single-game, season and career record for assists in 2021, leading the conference in assists. She had 43 on the season and 75 during her career, including ten in Loras’ win against Cornell College. She also ranks fourth-all time in points and eighth in goals.

The Duhawks posted a 3.28 GPA for the 2020-21 academic year. In total, the IWLCA honored 766 student-athletes from 282 institutions while 285 teams were selected as Academic Honor squads.
