Public Works Modifies Phone Service Hours

Calll

City of Dubuque issued the following announcement on August 18.

Effective Monday, Aug. 23, the City of Dubuque Public Works Department is changing its customer service phone availability to 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The one hour per-day reduction will allow staff time to respond to voicemails and emails and perform other duties. This adjustment will still allow 40 hours of phone access for the public to contact the department with needs and requests.

Residents are encouraged to submit service requests and questions to the department through the City’s website and the MyDBQ app. The “Report a Concern” option on the City’s website (www.cityofdubuque.org) allows residents to make requests or report issues to the public works department and all other City departments. MyDBQ is the City’s free mobile app for submitting requests for service or reporting concerns. Residents can conveniently submit and track non-emergency service requests through the app, and the request is routed to the appropriate City department. For more information, visit www.cityofdubuque.org/MyDBQ.

The public works department’s responsibilities include: trash and recycling collection, yard waste and food scrap collection, large item trash collections, street maintenance and cleaning, snow and ice control, storm sewer and sanitary sewer maintenance, riverfront maintenance, floodwall operations, street and traffic lighting and signs, Port of Dubuque maintenance, and more.

The public works department operates out of the Municipal Services Center at 925 Kerper Court. The department’s hours for in-person service remain 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 563-589-4250, email publicworks@cityofdubuque.org, or visit www.cityofdubuque.org/publicworks.
