Students at the University of Dubuque will return to classes March 23, after an extended spring break, thanks to concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus. But, things will function a little differently.
When classes resume on March 23, they will be delivered through distance learning, although the campus will remain open, with limited and restricted access, according to the university’s website.
On March 11, the University announced that it was extending spring break for undergraduate and certain graduate students until March 20. The break for students was previously scheduled for March 7 through 15, with students returning to classes on March 20. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, midterms would have been March 20, with grades due March 23, according to the university’s academic calendar.
The university is actively monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and is encouraging students and staff who have recently traveled near a location where the novel coronavirus is active to self-monitor.
