The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has approved for teens aged 16 to 17 years to get a PFIZER COVID-19 booster shot.
To provide additional vaccine availability in our community, Delaware County Public Health is now offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12+ by appointment only. Call 563-927-7551 to schedule an appointment. Additional local options for the Pfizer vaccine include:
- Hartig Drug in Dyersville (ages 5+), Independence (ages 5+), and Monticello (ages 12+)
- Nightingale Drug in Dyersville and Monticello (ages 12+). Monticello location is offering some separate clinics for ages 5+.
- Scott Pharmacy in Fayette (ages 5+)
- Walmart in Manchester and Independence (ages 5+)
- Widner Drug in Manchester (ages 18+)
With the exception of teens aged 16-17 years who can only receive a Pfizer COVID-19 booster, individuals 18+ can choose which COVID-19 vaccine they receive as their booster shot. Some may prefer to receive the same vaccine type as they originally received whereas others may be interested in getting a different booster. MODERNA
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is a 2-dose series. Individuals aged 18 and older are eligible. People with moderately to severely compromised immune systems are eligible to receive a third dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after the second dose. Everyone 18+ should receive a boost dose at least 6 months or more after the initial two-dose series.
PFIZER
The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is a 2-dose series. Individuals aged 5 and older are eligible. People aged 12+ with moderately to severely compromised immune systems are eligible to receive a third dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after the second dose. At least 6 months or more after the initial two-dose series: Teens aged 16-17 years can get a Pfizer booster; Everyone 18+ should receive a boost dose.
J&J (Janssen)
The J&J COVID-19 vaccine is a 1-dose vaccine. Individuals aged 18 and older are eligible. Two months after receiving the initial dose, individuals should receive a boost dose.
