The City of Dubuque was recently recognized as a top organization for providing innovative solutions to create organizational structures, workplace policies, and total rewards, which inclusively engage and motivate its employees.

Gallagher’s Best-in-Class awards recognize employers that excel in supporting their employees’ physical, emotional, career and financial wellbeing for better organizational outcomes. The City of Dubuque scored in the top 12.5% of the more than 4,000 large and midsize employers who participated in Gallagher’s 2022 Benefits Strategy & Benchmarking Survey.

“Achieving this acknowledgment was an organizational effort, not just one department,” said City of Dubuque Human Resources Director Shelley Stickfort. “Given the unique and extraordinary challenges and opportunities we have faced the last several years, this objective recognition shows that the efforts by the entire human resources team and the various employee committees and resources have been very worthwhile in support of our greatest asset, the City’s human capital.”

Stickfort said the City takes a proactive and structured approach to planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive benefits and human resource programs to retain and attract employees.
